Exhibits and Awards

Catherine Anderson’s enviable list of coveted, juried exhibits and awards are a testimony to the masterful level of her artwork and status as a distinguished artist. It is difficult to be accepted into certain prestigious shows, yet Catherine’s work has won awards in many of them! We need to update the information presented here and work on this page is ongoing. However, we wanted to post this list of exhibits and awards for those who are just getting to know Catherine and her work now that she has moved to beautiful southern Oregon.

Exhibits

2013

Catherine’s painting, Night Voyage, was accepted for the 146th Annual International Exhibition of the American Watercolor Society, and consequently won the prestigious High Winds medal. The American Watercolor Society chose Night Voyage to be part of their year-long AWS traveling show, which toured the nation, exhibiting in museums and galleries across the country.

2003

The Great American Artist Exhibition and Sale (GAA) The Cincinnati Club, Cincinnati, Ohio www.greatamericanartists.com. Catherine’s 24″ x 20″ watercolor & acrylic painting, Mañana, was accepted into this prestigious show.

2003

Anderson’s watercolor Song of the Earth was accepted into the Midwest Watercolor Society (MWS – now the Transparent Watercolor Society of America). She received her Signature Membership with them the same year.

The American Watercolor Society 135th Annual International Exhibition 47 Fifth Avenue New York, NY 10003 ***The American Watercolor Society elected Catherine to active AWS Signature Membership this year, and awarded her painting, Magic of the Night, the Clara Stroud Memorial Award.

2002

Artists First Annual Open Studio in Houston’s Historical Heights Catherine participated in this Open Studio with her students. The studio tour donated a portion of all art sales to the DePelchin Children’s Center, serving children and families since 1892.

Denver Rotary Club Artists of America Exhibit Denver, CO Catherine’s watercolor painting, As I Woke Up One Morning, was accepted into this prestigious show.

Northwest Watercolor Association (NWWS) 60th Annual Open Exhibition As I Woke Up One Morning was accepted into this prestigious show.

See Catherine’s paintings in the movie “Déjà Vu”, starring Denzel Washington.

Two of Catherine Anderson’s watercolor paintings appear in the Disney movie, DARK WATER. The film stars Jennifer Connelly and was released in movie theaters in July, 2005. You can see Catherine’s in a key scene which takes place in the mediator’s office. GreenPiece, is a green landscape and Rhythm of Life is a pink seascape. Disney reviewed 10,000 paintings in their search for artwork, and as a result of all that work they finally chose Catherine’s!
